Noise
At higher elevations, sound carries widely. A good rule of thumb is that if you’re making noise that can be heard outside your host’s property line, it’s probably too loud. No noise should be plainly audible from the source property line for one minute at 25 feet (10 PM - 7 AM) or 50 feet (7AM -10 PM).

Parking
Please park only in the designated parking areas provided for your rental unit excluding the grass and/or swale. Do not block another driveway or park In the street.

Occupancy
There is a two (2) person sleeping occupancy limit per bedroom and the maximum gathering occupancy is 1.5 times the sleeping occupancy. No gathering shall exceed twenty (20) occupants regardless of the number of bedrooms.

Garbage
The City of Fort Lauderdale is home to many wildlife, like snakes, possums, raccoons, and others that can be attracted to garbage. Please dispose of all garbage inside City approved receptacles provided by your host. Trash carts should not be out before 6:00pm the day before pickup and must be removed before midnight the day of pickup. THE TRASH PICK UP DAYS FOR YOUR LOCATION ARE PROVIDED IN THE GUIDEBOOK

Sistrunk Boulevard, a main thoroughfare, which spans Historic Sistrunk from its eastern to western boundaries is named in honor of pioneering Black physician, Dr. James Franklin Sistrunk. Dr. Sistrunk is the founder of Provident Hospital, Broward County’s first Black hospital.

Today the neighborhood is known for its arts, music and culture.

Rooted in History

Historic Sistrunk has stood at the center of African-American culture and heritage in Fort Lauderdale since the earliest recorded settlers migrated from Georgia, South Carolina and the Bahamas more than 100 years ago. Many were railroad workers who settled in shanties along the railroad tracks before the turn of the twentieth century. After the tracks and stations were completed, some found other work and were residents at the time of Fort Lauderdale’s incorporation as a city in 1911. Like elsewhere in the segregated United States, a close-knit Black community emerged to provide living essentials, share values of hard work, integrity and faith, and courageously advocate for full participation for all citizens in the American dream.
